The Return
Soooo… It’s been a long time. I apologize. To the noble readers out there, thanks for sticking around. In my defense, my Mac wasn’t working for quite a while. Furthermore, I’ve been out too often – 2.5 weeks straight. E’rday.
But alas, I’ve returned. I haven’t brought anything specific to write about. Just looking to tell you all that I’m still doing very well and having lots of fun.
So how can I begin to catch you up…
Well, my family visited recently. It was a real treat to show them around Hong Kong, and I think they enjoyed their stay very much. I gave them a grand tour of the city, including most of the districts I frequent. We had some great discussions over a few drinks, and I finally got to eat some good food, which was more than appreciated. Also, my sister helped bring my computer back to life, so if you’re reading… THANK YOU, MISSY!
Beyond my family’s visit, I’ve been attending a lot of events around town, most of which graciously serve up free drinks: this has provoked many late nights.
A few highlights
I went to my first silent disco a few nights ago. If you haven’t been to one yet, I strongly suggest finding the next nearest you. At this particular one, attendees was given wireless headphones (offering 2 different channels of music) and free drinks provided by the New Zealand vodka brand 42 Below. It was interesting having so much control over the music’s relevance at any moment. Everyone would tune-in for well-mixed segments of music, and would turn down the volume for conversation during the less envigorating parts.
Another fun night was at Dragon-I’s 6th anniversary. The event was lined with a red carpet, celebrity guests (including yours truly), models, lots of champagne, and a set by Jamiroquai and house legend Danny Rampling. Unfortunately, the girl from the Rampling-Youtube-video was not @ the birthday party :-(
Completely unrelated to clubbing, but not unrelated to substance abuse, I’ve recently joined a band. We’ve been making smash hits for a few weeks now, and this tuesday, I’ll try to get some of our session recorded. We sound something like… pure awesomeness.
A few other things
While I didn’t have my computer, I was writing in my travel journal A LOT. I was hoping to transcribe some of my notes from Halloween, but as I’ve been compiling memories and memoirs, the last half of November escaped me.
Holy crap! Can anyone believe how quickly this semester has past? Absolutely incredible. Now, I find myself in the last few production weeks for Time Out before the new year, and after having so much fun, I’m hungry for some quality reporting.
Also, I’m excited to finish the last leg of my trip. I haven’t left any stone unturned here in Hong Kong. Soon, I’ll find myself touring through mainland China by train — traveling to Beijing for Christmas and Shanghai for New Year’s Eve. If I can plan it right, I want to travel to Japan too. Inevitably, i’ll face graduation in Mizzurah. Then, I get to plan the next chapter!
So… yeah… many exciting things on the forefront of my life. I’ll keep you all posted, and I get my Halloween story up soon. Cheers, from Hong Kong.
